Our Company

Balance Point Home Performance does retrofit and new construction work throughout Nevada County, CA and the surrounding areas. With a strong understanding of building science and a lifetime’s dedication to building performance, we provide expert design and installation of HVAC systems, building enclosures, energy audits, and more—measuring everything and judging ourselves on results.

Our Founder, Dan Perunko, does much of the work himself, including the gritty parts like crawling around in attics. When he’s not fixing houses in his home state of California, he’s designing state of the art HVAC systems or teaching contractors around the country about the importance of high performance work. He’s chosen to keep Balance Point a small company that focuses on doing exceptional work for select clients, rather than growing large and impersonal.

Balance Point Home Performance also provides consulting services to builders, architects, engineers, and homeowners including advanced HVAC and building envelope design. We specialize in dry climate zones, but have worked nationally. Whenever we can, we travel to conferences around the country to teach other building professionals the advanced techniques and measurement approaches we have pioneered in our own work.
